Community-Style Acupuncture Clinic

Community-Style Acupuncture is offered on Tuesday afternoons, 1 – 5:30 p.m. at my office at 522 E. Alma Street, Mt. Shasta.  Please note that, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, appointments are required.  It is no longer a walk-in clinic. (Click for Google Map).

What is it?

Community-style acupuncture is the treatment of more than one patient at a time in a communal treatment room.  This is the most common format of acupuncture used in China and many other Asian countries.  It allows for lower cost treatment in a supportive environment.  People often report a wonderful feeling of camaraderie and support from community-style acupuncture.

How Does It Work?

Patients are treated in a communal treatment room.   Lynn Lloyd, L.Ac. will take your pulses (Chinese-style), look at your tongue and ask questions to clarify your health picture.  Needles will then be inserted.  Needles are usually retained for about 30 minutes, so allow 45-60 minutes for your overall visit.

What Conditions Can Be Treated?

Community-style acupuncture is a good choice for many health concerns including (but not limited to!): wellness maintenance, common colds & coughs, chronic pain management, stress/tension symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, emotional upset, menstrual cycle discomfort, and many more.  If you have questions about your health concerns and the appropriateness of acupuncture in treating it, please call Lynn at 530-926-4114,

What is NOT included?

Some health issues respond best to treatment modalities other than, or in addition to, acupuncture.  Patients with complicated health issues, more than one health issue simultaneously, or who prefer confidential treatment may respond best to private treatment or a combination of private and community-style acupuncture.

Due to the public nature of community-style acupuncture, treatments will not be given which require disrobing.  All needles will be located on the legs, arms and head.

Other Asian medical modalities such as cupping, moxabustion, massage or electrical stimulation will not be used.  Persons requiring or desiring these modalities wil need private appointments.  Herbs will not be prescribed as this requires a more detailed intake.

How Much Does It Cost?

Cost is $40, payable at the beginning of each treatment.  Check or cash only accepted.

What Do I Wear?

Wear loose. comfortable clothing that can be rolled or pushed above the knees/elbows.
